Refuting ‘Miracles In The Quran: The Function of Mountains’
Posted on September 16th, 2007 | by admin |
**EDIT**
There is a video by Dr. Zakir Naik stating that a famous geologist, a certain ‘Dr. Frank Press’ wrote in a respected book on geology (called ‘Earth’) that the ‘function’ of mountains was to ’stabilise the earth’.
After a fair amount of searching I failed to find a page number for this statement, or a direct quote.
I did however find this:
http://www.islam-guide.com/frm-ch1-1-b.htm
If you look carefully, you will see that the statement that the ‘function’ of mountains is to ’stabilise’ the earth isn’t attributed to Dr. Frank at all. It’s from a book on quranic geology. It seems that Dr. Zakir Naik jumped the gun on that one a bit.
However, if anyone can show me Dr. Frank’s quote, along with the context, page number and a photo of the pages of the book covering that chapter, I’m listening.
**/EDIT**
The ‘Miracles in the Quran’ series is, as far as I have seen, a fallacious, deceitful work of pro-Islam propaganda.
In this video I debunk the segment concerning the so-called ‘function’ of mountains.
In reality it is a lame attempt to make some kind of scientific sense out of passages which are very obviously the product of ancient beliefs.
Please watch my other Quran Mountain video here:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=LIvETHedhPQ
And research the Quran passages here:
http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/reference/searchquran.html
Or, indeed, any official translation service.
Preferably, if you’re able, read the original Arabic, or the interpretations of the most respected Imams. If you are shown ANY supposedly miraculous Quran quote, look it up independently.
I will guarantee that in most cases it will be a willful mistranslation, twisted in meaning from the respected translations and original Arabic.
In the other cases, look up the science itself, or the world view of the ancient Greeks, or the Old Testament of the Bible.
Of course, if you feel I’m wrong on any points, I’d love to see your comments and videos.
Just keep the death threats and ‘You’re Going To Hell’ comments to a minimum.
Really, I’ve seen it all before and you’re just making Islam look bad.

I recognize the …
I recognize the narrator’s voice. It’s the same guy who did this “fact of creation” thing which was full of sooooo much bullshit. It’s on youtube. I refuted its claims in the comments.

There are a number of different narrators, depending on the version you find.
I keep thinking he’s going to start saying ‘They’re dead Dave. They’re all dead.’
(You’ll probably only get that if you’re British.)
Message me your rebuttal and I’ll see if I can make a vid aout it.

I’m reminded of an …
I’m reminded of an old Peanuts cartoon, where Charlie Brown is watching Lucy teach things to Linus. She says stuff like, “See the trees moving in the breeze? Trees make the wind blow.”
And Charlie says to himself, “Linus will have to go an extra year of school to unlearn all the things Lucy’s taught him”.

With how cryptic …
With how cryptic these scriptures always are to modern minds, WHY didn’t their God’s just tell these ancient backwards people the actual scientific explanations? So what if they wouldn’t understand it. Its THEM who got to see people flying magic horses and walking on water. You’d think they’d have the faith to write down the ‘then’ seemingly gibberish anyway (that would mean a lot to modern minds).

You see what our …
You see what our problem is? We Muslims think everything written in the Quran is “the knowledge of Ghaib” so we never bother investigating it. Take for example expansion of the universe mentioned in the Quran, we thought it’s the knowledge of the Ghaib so we never bothered with it until they found out that universe is indeed expanding. If we keep that up we will never find out about multiple universes having multiple dimensions and about other worlds, and other creations mentioned in the Quran.

It is my belief …
It is my belief that every single thing written in the noble Quran is written for a reason. I believe that most of the things mentioned in the Quran are not just knowledge of Ghaib but they are practical knowledge and are hinted there for us to investigate, find out and explore.

OK, I did warn you. You seem to have run out of steam debate-wise, so you’re just doing cut & paste jobs on my channel comments. I’ve see you do this elsewhere as well.
If you wanted to debate that would be cool, but spamming will be dealt with.
Goodbye, you’re blocked.

Thanks Anarkokommunist
But I’m not necessarily making videos to convert Muslims. That’s a near impossible task - they’ve been fed their religion from birth, so a couple of YouTube videos won’t deconvert them.
I make them for people who may not have the critical thinking skills to see through religious extremist propaganda.

All muslims are not impossible to convert. In Europe we have alot of middle East people coming to our counties. I think that some of them will be able to convert now when they do not live in superislam countries! I really think videos like yours can help at least a little bit.

That’s fine, as long as you’re not just cut & pasting from a bank of stock comments. If you post the same comment multiple times or post the same comment that I see you posting on other channels, I’ll block you for good. Got it?
