This is my favorite linux distro called Elive, better than 3d desktops like windows vista aero, ubuntu or suse with beryl, compiz, XGL or composite, its pure light, fast, and completly stable, special for multimedia

    Sounds to me like you don’t know what you talk about. One of the strengths in Linux is that is has no native user-interface.

    No, the textbased stuff isn’t Linux either, Linux is only a kernel, the textbased stuff is a process connected to the kernel afterwards, just like the graphical user-interface.

    It makes Linux more flexible and possible to use in situations where systems like Windows would be impossible to use.

    Love Windows if you want to, but don’t crap on that you know nothing about.

    hey, dumbfuck, is that why linux can read an NTFS partition and windows can’t look at any other filesystem but FAT and NTFS (besides, of course, CDFS and the like)? Yeah. Exactly.     It’s the windows installer for Ubuntu, no complicated work at all. Choose what you want, install, then every time you start up your computer you can choose windows or Ubuntu.

    Simply put, I don’t want to waste my three five or six hours outside of work every day trying to get Linux to work, then finding out my sound card has no drivers so I can’t make it work. I don’t shit on Linux, but I admire Vista because everything WORKS. It doesn’t really matter to me if Linux is faster, when I could be spending those five hours looking at family photos or gaming (not that I game much…) Also when a problem is found in Windows there’s a much bigger knowledgebase than for Linux.

    Yes you can have more problems with drivers with Linux (although the chance of that happening gets smaller every day) but that’s not really Linuxes fault or vistas achievement. The problem is that hardware providers just makes drivers for windows, and the Linux community has to make it for them self’s.

    And when it comes to problem knowledgebase I actually think there is almost no difference between Linux and vista.

    This is shitselling because Microsoft itself makes drivers for Xp and Vista. Even when the hardware providers do not supports Vista (although the chance of that happening gets smaller every day) u will find at 90% a driver made by Microsoft. And the reason Vista works at most chance is that Vista and XP are used by an ENORMOUS AMOUNT of users compared to something like Linux. Feedback and resources for Vista is not comparable to Linux’s , even if u consider all the distro together.
