    I was given Paxil ( …
I was given Paxil (SSRI similar to Zoloft) for depression, and I can honestly say that’s the worst drug in history. No sex drive, memory loss, mental fuzziness, inability to make simple decisions, and emotional instability. I stopped taking it after 2 weeks.

I’m really amazed that SSRI drugs are even legal. If compared with something like heroin, I would say heroin is a less-dangerous drug. I’m not even joking.

    I take a generic …
I take a generic version of Zoloft, 150mg/day, and I feel it has helped me. My panic attacks are gone and I no longer injure myself. My eating issues are much better too. I’ve also tried Seronil (similar to Prozac) and Cipralex (same as Lexapro). Seronil was good, but stopped working for me and Cipralex made me apathetic. Zoloft has been the best so far. These drugs obviously aren’t for everyone, but I don’t want to think where I’d be now without them. Therapy is very important too IMO.

    I’ve experimented …
I’ve experimented abit with Zoloft and don’t care to take it unless I’m in a very anxious/depressed state. I’ve heard that SSRI’s can actually permanently alter your brain chemistry. I’m sueing the psychiatrist I saw if I feel that I have lasting negative results from taking medications that they prescribed me.

    You could avoid …
You could avoid suing them if you asked them for the info and made the decision yourself. Some people experience more side effects, it’s difficult, if not impossible to find out who those people are.

    If Zoloft made you …
If Zoloft made you feel like a zombie, pretty much no one would recommend you stay on it, unless it was riskier/more uncomfortable than being off of it. That’s why people frequently must change medications, and so even if the majority aren’t helped by zoloft, it doesn’t invalidate Zoloft at all. It shows that individuals must find what works for them, and that may not include medication at all - yet usually meds like this include therapy and health changes. It’s never just taking a pill.

You should never of been on the pill. You were a stressed college student thats not what zoloft is for. It is for people with bipolar, depression, ocd…people who cannot control it. Not for someone who is stressed about school. Clearly you never even needed it.

    Ah! The psychetruth …
Ah! The psychetruth. Well I have read many reviews on this drug. Many different situations and many different anti-depressants. For me non has worked. But I hear that it has helped many to life a happier life. Yes, there are side effects. And the amazing thing about these ssri’s that that they don’t work for everyone. We need to be careful that we don’t run people off, because of a bad experience. Remember the Tom Cruise situation. Well, she said they helped her with postpartum.

    In 1/2 of all …
In 1/2 of all antidepressant clinical trials, the placebo (sugar pill) was more effective than the antidepressant.

So, in the clinical trials, for every one person that claimed the antidepressants helped them, there was another person that claimed the sugar pill helped them.

Depression is episodic anyways. Given enough time, in the majority of cases, symptoms go into full remission even without treatment. This is true of MAJOR depression.

    I have respectfully …
I have respectfully read those reviews and have seen that exercise and fish oil pills are better for most depression. But, I personally have dealt with anxiety and depression in my life. I bike ride 25 miles every other day. Eat fish and did the fish pills. I was watching a special of a woman who had her brain opened and an electric probe was installed in her head. Her own words were I fell human again, once the probe was placed in her head. Paxil turned me into a zombie years ago.

    But I am …
But I am reluctantly trying Zoloft again. I will let you know. Who is to say that those in the clinic test were really not dealing with real depression? Oh! I have never had a ssri work for me. So that’s a testimony to the sugar pill theory. Oh! I also have tried talk therapy. I don’t know how fair it is to say, just don’t try them? There are plenty of review pages I have read were they really helped people.

    Oh one additional …
Oh one additional note, I do not endorse the use of anti-depressants. I still think they are a scary drug. But I have read of many that it helped. So it’s a two edged sword. Like I said I had the same reaction with Paxil as you did with Zoloft. I believe its money game. But it still does help some people. When you have clinical depression, you will try anything. Your depression sounds like it wasn’t clinical. There is a big difference. I totally agree that you should go the natural way first.

    Zoloft makes me …
Zoloft makes me feel happy and I appreciate life and I’m much more engaged… I sleep allot less. Pretty much the opposite that this lady is describing. And I’ve never heard of anyone taking an anti-depression without seeing a psychologist first.
