    I made this the …
I made this the other day and it was amazing! I used raw agave syrup instead of raw honey and it gave the ‘shortcake’ mixture an almost toffee flavour. The taste would easily fool anyone into thinking this dessert was packed with sugar and dairy products!

I enjoyed watching this video, thanks!

Just like other people have commented: honey is an animal product, therefore it is not vegan! However, honey is almost always really easy replace with any thick syrup, like agave, maple syrup, birch tree syrup and so on… Though I’m not sure if all syrups are completely raw – I personally don’t think it is a problem since being 100% vegan is much more important to me than being 100% raw.

I’ve found agave to be the best alternative. Few live in a state where it’s made so it would have to be imported. I’ve used date syrup in many things (again they grow here) but any high glucose fruit can be made in to a syrup.

    This is the first …
This is the first raw food I made and my husband and I have had it numerous times – IT’S AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!! :-P And as far as the honey goes, please people STOP being so crass and disrespectful of other people. Everyone takes different paths in life and honey is a debatable vegan food, so let it be the individuals choice to make healthy, happy decisions. It is so awful when someone is trying to do a good thing that some folks just have to point & pick apart their efforts. ;-(

everyone should check out who posted this video – all this bickering about honey is ridiculous – the man knows what he is doing and is probably more educated on the topic than all of us. (that’s not meant to be mean) Storm & his family are so awesome and i thank them for sharing their lives with us all!

A true vegan will not eat honey because the bees are killed at the end of each season. It is cheaper to get new bees than keep them alive all year.

Some vegans eat honey. Get the hell over it.

The “cake” looks delish! I’ll definitely try it out in the future. I’ll substitute the honey with something else though.

ok ook …some vegans dont eat honey becuz yes it is an animal product…it is ok….bees swallow the nectar n then spit baack up n then swallow it n spit it back up at least 50 times to turn the nectar into honey…so yea it is not vegan cus now that nectar has the bees enzymes n fat , which turns it into honey, a vegan type of honey though is agave n pretty much tastes the same as honey, n im not vegan but duh i do kno honey is an animal product

Tis the truth. Honey is an animal product and animal products are not vegan. It is impossible to produce animal products on a commerical basis without some level of cruelty and death.

    vegans don’t eat …
vegans don’t eat animal products cause they don’t believe in manipulation of anything living in order to get food because they say that majority of those animals are mistreated. So the fact alone that a living creature is needed to make honey and they are taken out of their enviroment for domesticated bee hives makes it non vegan. I personaly love honey, it’s far healthier than the glucose sub they eat.
