I am pretty sure …
I am pretty sure that sugar coating is the stuff that I despise on my cakes. It does look interesting, but it tastes like exactly what it is. Pure sugar and fat.

Butter cream …
Butter cream frosting is a pretty common frosting. It’s not what Robin puts in the frosting to harden it, she pops the frosted cake in the cooler (fridge) for a bit for it to be firm enough so the fondant can be placed on top. She says this at :40 in the video. Hope this helps you!

Your butter cream …
Your butter cream frosting looks really light. How do u make it? I have to make a wedding cake for my sister-in-law in a couple week(it’s gonna be my very first wedding cake). I’m so nervous and excited at the same time. I never work with fondant or trying to stack 3 tiers cake before. I hope everything will turn out fine.

like hell I’m gonna eat that…this is some kind of cultural difference - without questioning that girl’s got talent… but I can’t stop laughing reading the comments… this is so typical american… these colours… one finger thick fondant and buttercream… and… these colours… serious… you’ve got no taste…

True about the …
True about the taste but whatever. To me a fondant cake is nothing like a real cake, its more like a sculpture. Even though its edible but I doubt anyone would even take a bite out of all that fondant…

The cake looks …
The cake looks wonderful, you are very gifted. My goal is to make my sons a bday cake, when you layered it you just put those plastic tubes? Is the bord under the cake carboard or plastic????
By cookingupastory on Aug 11, 2008 | Reply
For a layered cake …
For a layered cake the tubes go in the middle of the bottom layer(s) so the top layers don’t collapse down into it. Robin uses a cardboard round, which can be found at cake supply stores. Share a picture of your sons cake. I would love to see how it turned out!

Happy to help! I’m working on a DVD with Robin right now that will give lots of great info, ideas, and help explain in a clearer fashion how to do these different steps. I’m just sorry it isn’t ready now to help w/your sons birthday cake.
Have a great celebration, and I look forward to that pic!
