Posted on March 23rd, 2006 | by admin |
This is a video of how fast the Gigabyte I-Ram loads Windows…
as seen on: http://digg.com/hardware/I-Mesh_GIG_of_RAM_runs_Windows_at_blazing_speed_
NOTE: I am in NO way affiliated with this product. I DID NOT make this video. I DO NOT have/own the product. I only saw the video and decided to post it here.

It’s not fake, I …
It’s not fake, I bought one off ebay. HDTune shows 127MB/s avg. Gigabyte says it can do 8Gb but is limited to 4Gb. It uses a xilinx chipset for memory and jmicron for sata interface. The limitation has nothing to do with windows but the xilinx chipset that was used. And yes, on a fresh install my windows also boots this fast. Do some research first, jeez.

if you look at the …
if you look at the cursor when booting up the machine again (the underscore cursor in the dos window), it blinks extremely fast (IMO).
It might just be something that varies from system to system, but itcould also be evidence of fakeing the speed of the video.
I’m not saying it’s fake or not, just saying what I see.

Not really, i-ram …
Not really, i-ram can only use ddr1 ram. If you can run directly off the ram, it would be faster than any hard disc. But, i-ram can use only 4GB. (unless you use raid 0)

I can’t see the …
I can’t see the cursor in the text mode screens in the video, but the cursor there would blink faster than the cursor in a command prompt window, if that’s what you’re talking about. You can get text mode inside Windows by pressing ALT+ENTER on a command prompt window (XP and earlier only… sorry Vista users, too cool and old school for you!) and you’ll see a difference in the cursor blink speed.

Looks like there is 2 or more RAIDed i-rams. If u pause at 0:16, you can clearly see the BIOS RAID screen. Still, it’s pretty impressive. Just pointing that out.
